Gay males have sex or sexual desires for other males. Some are masculine and some are effeminate. Straight males have sex or sexual desires for females. Some are masculine and some are effeminate.
Is that simple enough for you to understand?

Its really very simple. Gay males are gay males, i.e. men who are attracted to men. What you call feminine gays who feel and behave as women are probably transexuals. That's a different kettle of fish entirely and nothing to do with being gay. Transexuals don't identify with the sex they are born with, often have corrective surgery and as a result don't really fancy the same sex. Hope that helps you out.

Feeling one's self as a woman refers to one's gender identity. Displaying what THIS society would call "feminine traits" however would be gender expression, in the sense that there are a HELLUVALOT more than two genders. Many men feel themselves to be men, they identify as men, but they display some traits that are society has arbitrarily defined as "feminine" (that is, in OTHER cultures and other societies, the same trait might be seen as very masculine, or completely nonreflective of gender). Heterosexism and homophobia have pervaded our society to the level that one such societal "gender norm", especially for men, is heterosexuality itself. As such, all gay men are "gender nonconformist" to some degree, because we aren't goin' for the ladies. Some people take this further than others.
There are SOME transgender people who would identify as male-bodied women who like men, but I'm pretty sure these aren't the ones you're talking about. The "real" definition of gay male is someone who identifies as male being attracted to other people that identify as male. (Though, we could argue whether orientation is more based on gender or physical sex).

A gay male is a male who is gay. Being gay means that you are attracted to the same sex. Gay males are men that love men. You can be feminine or masculine...it doesn't change your genitals.

Wow have you got things screwed up.
Gay males, effeminate or not, are still gay males.
You're confussing effeminate gay males with transgenders.
Now, if you'd kindly pull your head out of the back of your pants, maybe we could discuss this like adults?

prenatal hormonal theory explains it..
having a penis is the only prerequisite to being a male, and you're gay if you have sex with people who have the same genitalia as you. obviously though some femme gay guys like myself are more "traditionally feminine" than lots of genetic females, we're still gay males by a technical definition...
As far as society handles it, we are thrown in the same category as women to the rest of society. we are often perceived and treated as women. so you're on point with this question, honestly I feel like I'm a part of gay subculture by force of definition, I really have nothing in common/cannot relate to other males, gay or straight.

I am a gay male who is a man. I for one COMPLEATLY agree with you. The gay "flamboyent" males to me are frauds. NO ONE grows up to be a girl. ya know?
You become that. In turn its the people you hang around with etc. I have never met a gay man who acted all femmy and didn't like it. I think they do it on purpose for attention. Sadly enough though the world see's the rest of us in that light. Thanks to television.
A gay male is someone who is atracted to another male. NOT WOMEN! so yes, your right.

Excuse me, but I've never come across any man, gay or straight, "manly" or "feminine" that acted like any woman I have ever known in my lifetime. Your perception of true womanhood is wrong. Please look around you at your mother, grandmother, aunts, sisters, co-workers or even female friends and then seriously examine what you are asking.
Men are men and they are never women.

never mind definitions. there are hetero males that talk real soft and act like wimps but are not gay. dont have to be acting like a woman to be gay. Did Rock Hudson talk like a woman,no, he was a man, but was also gay ... discreetly ofcourse.

Gay is a modern day term recently adapted. It's true meaning is happy and joyful....light hearted. Hardly a parallel to most "gay" men I have came across? Men can be effeminate and in touch with their natural female "side" as they say. That doesn't mean that they are homosexual necessarily. I reckon many "gays" like being in a spotlight as it gives them a platform from which to cavort so to speak. Also many feel desperately inferior so being "gay" means they can belong to a group and find a common ground. Some of it is hormonal, some choice and attitude? Why they don't just keep it private I don't understand because to me sexuality is a private and personal issue. Flamboyant perhaps, and driven by a need to be so could be another analogy.
