A couple people have posted to not use overdrive-why is that?

You will have no problem towing a 15' bass boat with a V-6. Just make sure you do not exceed the towing limits of whatever you get. Good idea not to use overdrive.

15 foot boat shouldn't be a problem for either. If you're looking for the overkill, go for the V8.

About the overdrive: Heavy loads are not to be pulled while in overdrive. It is hard on the transmission, because the transmission will have to shift down anytime you want to increase speed. This constant shifting is hard on it, and so to prevent it, drive with your overdrive off.

We used our Toyota Corola to pull our 15' boat. Of course, we wouldn't do it too often, but we pulled it over a distance of 250Km a few times. So I don't think it would be a problem with a V6.

depending on the horsepower and the torque of the engine is a good way to compare v 6 / v 8. and a v 6 is a motor that usually has a good tourqe / pulling power at low rpm.

Yes, we towed a 23 foot keel sailboat with a 4 for years.
