When I was a kid I remember listening to their song 'White Noise' and being horrified and the language used.

I have just checked out the lyrics and they are pretty racist. Was the band racist or was this just trying to highlight how stupid racism is?

Jake Burns words are all tongue in cheek. Listen to Barbed
Wire Love for confirmation of this theory. I'll be going to see them shorlty if you would like me to pass on any concerns about his lyrics. If you don't know this what do you know on the subject of rascism

i think you know they were taking the piss but want to stir up a hornets nest

Suspect Device Wasted Life Tin Soldiers Alternative Ulster BQ: Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Clash, 45 Grave, and Joy Division (if you count post-punk). The Damned, Stiff Little Fingers, Dead Kennedys, The Cramps, The Buzzcocks, 1919, The Adverts, and the Vibrators are good too.

The latter - they were part of a very lefft-wing, pro-human rights wave in music, very political. That is like Roger Waters doing the Nazi role in The Wall - just showing how imbecile that aggression is, kinda like this guy with his little graphic, you can tell he's a sick little nobody.

some of the lyrics are ridiculous, it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek - and they're certainly not a racist band

Jake Burns and crew weren't racist. They had a few black followers! They were - as you say - ridiculing racists.
