I have a 1 gallion fish bowl. I thought I would get a bubbler for my goldfish that is in it. Only one I have found was a 5-15 gallion bubbler. A friend of mine said that her fish (same as mine with same bowl) acted strange when she put the bubbler in it. Will the bubbler have any negitive affect on my goldfish? Any other fish bowl advice will be much appreicated. (I'm use to 10-more gallion tanks, not bowls.)

Lana, first of all, a goldfish needs ATLEAST ten gallons of filterred water for itself. Not really because of a seize issue, but because of an ammonia and nitrate issue. Without a filter, smaller tanks will foul and become deadly in just a day or two. When i say deadly, i mean deadly. Your fish can and probably will suffer from ammonia poisoning and will probably die.

The bubbler is a good idea since the fish DO need oxygen in the water but its not going to do much against an ammonia filled tank.

A goldfish should have at least 20 gallons of water. Goldfish can live up to 30 years but most probably last less than a year because inexperienced people keep them in unfiltered bowls (and these people are told it is ok to do so by fish store employees). The best thing to do for your fish would be to get a bigger tank for it or find a home where someone can give it the life it deserves.

Keeping a goldfish in a bowl is a terrible idea. They are very dirty fish and require a major filtration system (either an under-gravel filter or over the top filter - neither of which will work in a bowl). The filter system will act as an oxygenation system and you won't need the bubbler. My suggestion is to get the fish out of the bowl ASAP.

a goldfish in a bowl is going to need its water changed every couple of days so you won't need the bubbler. a small clump of java moss would work better than a bubbler.

you can get that bubbler, but get an aquarium adjustment valve ($2) and keep the adjustment valve at its lowest, that way the fish wont become scared.

Keeps the water oxygenated.

I'd ask the people at the store. It might be a little to much for your fish to handle.
