Semi formal means (assuming you are a guy) a nice pair of wool pants, shirt and tie, a jacket and lace up (or nice slip on) leather shoes. The "formal" part usually means no jeans.

Semi-formal means dressy but not long gowns and tuxedos or suits. Like what you'd wear to a nice restaurant.
Woman could wear a short dress or skirt outfit, or nice pants and shirt.
Men could wear nice pants and a shirt.

I'm assuming, by your avator, that you're a guy. You could wear a nice polo with some khaki pants or nice jeans. Or you could wear a button down shirt with jeans. Something nice, but not too formal.

tuxedo jacket, nice dark-washed jeans, nice shoes (not dress shoes, sorta like dc shoes), and a semi casual t-shirt under the tuxedo jacket.
