I am free to say what I want, Right? So long as I don't mention God, my morals, my politics, how I think people should behave, etc. Am I on the right track Libs. Just want to get things cleared up. I can't seem to see through the double standard anymore. It is okay to push your views, yes, but I cannot push mine right.

As long as my opinion does not conflict with the left agenda, I am okay. But once I speak out about traditional family values I will be put down as a Neo con/ conservative, yes?

The Left supports freedom of speech to the umptenth degree...as long as your speech matches theirs. I have yet to hear of an audience shouting odwn a speaker from the Left, but it happens frequently for speakers on the right. When was the last time you heard of a college or university "re-assessing" an invitation to speak issued to a leftist? It doesn't happen, but if that same speaker is from the Right and somewhat controversial, the stdent activists will create such a ruckus that the administration has no choice. The Left called for the president of Harvard's head on a platter for making remarks with which they disagreed. I wonder why the same didn't happen to Ward Churchill...

There is a difference between freely expressing yourself and pushing your views onto others.

For example, you may oppose abortion and express it to the world, but if you try to make it illegal you prevent a woman from the right to a SAFE abortion (they still happen, legal or not) and you're no longer just exercising your right to free speech.

If someone is attacking you simply for expressing your own views, however, they are wrong.

I am liberal, and trust me, there are as many conservatives (if not more) that oppose freedom of speech in one way or another.

The Fairness Doctrine is being used by the left to suppress the right to free speech over the airwaves because of the total failure of Air America. They (the democrats) demand equal time even though no one wants to listen to their rhetoric. That is an infringement on the freedom of speech on established radio show whose ratings are sky high based on the content of that show. Freedom of speech only applies to those that refuse the truth

Say what you believe/support.

I just don't see why some feel the need to be outright insulting or provocative. I guess when people are safe, behind a computer screen, they're bolder than in real life - face to face.

I Know what you're saying!!! They want to remove our beliefs, our morals and degrade our way of thinking politically, but when we express what we feel, they want to protest, throw objects and rush the stage of our Political speakers, and allow a place such as the ACLU to defend organizations that promote child abuse/molestation (meaning NAMBLA). They have Idea's they want to push onto the American people without revealing the full truth of their actions, they don't think about the long haul when they come up with their hair brained ideas. The Liberals are what's tearing this counties moral fibers apart.

Whats a "Lib"?

Basically what you did was create a straw man: assign him a phony position and vaguely condemn him (ahem....or her).
In todays PC world one must not be too gender specific.

edit : Whose "traditional family values", david Dukes? Martin Luther Kings? George Bush's? ...too vague. Some families in the South had a tradition of owning a slave. Some have a tradition of keeping the peace and fighting corruption and lies....etc

You seem to have mentioned every thing you say you aren't going to mention. I do however enjoy the double standard part you did mention, you know, the one you are using in your statement. It's very difficult to clear things up when you muddy the waters you are walking through.

if you have issues with one person, take it up with them. don't blame all of us. personally, i could care less what your opinions are. or if you wish to express them. that's your right. that's everyone's right no matter what their opinions be. and come on. you can't tell me you've never put a lib down for their beliefs.

You can say what you want - action is a different matter. When you cross the threshold and harm another you are wrong. Period.
