That kind of crab is immitation. Its made out of Pollack (a type of fish that is ok to eat in pregnancy). So go right ahead. Unfortunately the Subways around me have dicontinued that sandwhich :( It was my favorite too... and now I want one... would you eat one for me too ? lol

Seafood is OK in moderation. Crab is OK because it does not have high mercury levels. The seafood to stay away from is large fish found far out at sea (ex. Swordfish, tuna) I worked at Red Lobster during my whole pregnancy and had seafood every day at lunch. I think even a small amount of large fish can be OK. As long as it is not the main source of your diet. Do not be worried, and if it is a craving, it is probably because your body needs some kind of nutrient that has.

At subway the seafood sensation is imitation crab and mayonnaise. I know, because i make it all the time at Subway. So, since it isn't real seafood, go ahead. The tuna, is tuna and mayonnaise. I was told two different stories as to whether or not they could eat the tuna while pregnant, but it's better to be safe than sorry, so you should ask your doctor about the tuna!

It's the same as deli meat, it *may* be contaminated with listeria. The risks are small but they are there.

Also the Seafood and crab sub at subway is all fake, as far as I know so it is mainly made of pollock so you should have less than two servings a week.

It is up to you to decide, but what I did was buy fake crab and then cook it and cool it in the freezer before eating, as I had a serious craving.

Go ahead and enjoy the sandwich. I understand about being nervous, I was the same way too. I did avoid certain types of fish like fresh tuna and swordfish, because of mercury content, which is harmful to the baby.

I've heard that pregnant women should stay clear of seafood because of the mercury in it. You should ask your doctor to see what he/she says. It maybe only be certain seafood. I know tuna is one of them. Good Luck to you and congrats.

I know my doctor told me I could even eat tuna in small portions. You are supposed to stay away from mercury but she said as much as 4oz. is ok. I would just call your doctor or nurse to make sure. Shrimp is my favorite food and she said that is perfectly fine to eat! :)

My doctor told me not to eat any seafood when I was pregnant. It can be dangerous.
