it shouldnt be a problem if you are going to introduce them slowly.
an adult cat will most likely adjust to a puppy quickly, just make sure you dont get a dog with a high prey reflex, like a whippet because even if they are adjusted to living with a cat they can potentially be a threat, dogs with high prey refelxes catch and kill anything that zips by acting like a bunny, cat, ferret etc.

If your cat is friendly it's not a bad idea. They would probably play-fight, but it's not serious unless someone gets hurt badly. It's a really good idea to get a small-medium sized dog like what you're looking at. Your cat will most likely hiss a lot the first day, but they'll get used to each other.

It depends on how old the cat acts. Could be a ten year old cat that still plays like a kitten and they'd get along, and could be a 5mo kitten that thinks they're 5yo and the cat will hate the puppy. It depends entirely on the cat's willingness to play with the puppy and how territorial they are. Be careful if the cat is the type to attack the window when there is a cat across the street that they can see. At 1yo, though, my guess is that it should be fine.

it would probably be fine. how they interact depends on their personalities. my guess is that the puppy will be interested in the c at and the cat will be scared of the puppy. usually when the cat is used to no other pets and then another pet comes, the cat doesn't like it! but if the puppy was there first and then the cat comes it is ok. i had two cats and they didnt like it and were scared when we got a dog. then we got a third cat and this cat loved the dog! she cuddled with it and ate from it's bowl and stuff.

Should be ok. They work out who is boss! My cats were approx year old x 2 and 12 yrs x1 when I got a lab puppy and the 2 young ones tollerated him at 1st. He is black and pestered the life out of them particually the black cat! I think he missed his black siblings. Now they love each other they Sleep together play etc, cannot wait to see each other - it is so sweet. However, the older cat nearly had his eye out and the dog is still wary of him 2 years later, he is deffinatley the boss of the dog - and the other cats too! I think you will have to watch them and just see. If you are going to get one, take a few weeks off so you can be with them and make sure there are no problems.
I would also be wary of introducing them to a dog to see how they get on. My father in laws jack russell when he visits, who is used to cats, plays lovely with my 2 friendly cats and them him however, our dog who loves our cats see other peoples cats as things to chase!!

well you should test it. if you know anyone who by chance, has a puppy, or small dog, you should just bring that dog over for a while, and see the reaction of the cat, cats are different, they have their own personality. if the cat doesnt seem bothered(watch out for the dog, it'd be better to have a friend with a pup(barking) then the cat will be fine, but if the cat throws a hissy fit, then i wouldn't advise you get a pup just yet...idk i could be about this all wrong!

It should be fine just make sure that the puppy you get has been brought up in a family that has other animals like cats, your cat might have to get use to it , but my cat and dog get on fine and my cats about 2 years older.

Kerry, be effective to introduce them very slowly and one after the different. save the puppies crated or in the back of a sprint one gate the place your 5 year previous cat may well be curious and learn them, yet no longer have the puppies top in his face. maximum Toms will settle for brand spanking new animals. I had one cat inspite of the shown fact that that hated a canines I introduced into my domicile lots, she stepped forward an ingesting illness and that i had to discover the canines a clean domicile. of direction she became great with the canines I surely have now. sturdy success! I think you would be okay. I have two cats who are three years old and they have always been around dogs. It may take awhile for them to get used to each other, but will probably end up being buddies. My cats love the dog and vice versa

You could possibly try it... I have to dogs and a cat and they just play and the dogs growl sometimes. I have a Chihuahua and a Shetland sheep dog so small is good. A big dog could really hurt the cat.
