i had put on a pad because i had discharge and so then when i took it out it was light brown stuff on it.it was there for one day only can i say it was my first period.

There may not be much discharge on your first period. If it was your first period it may or may not be a while until you get your next because it can take time to become regular. The first discharges are usually described as whitish (mucous) rather than light brown, but if there was some bleeding, it could be light brown. People can be very different and diagnosis over the internet is not something that is necessarily reliable. Check for the other symptoms on the references given and if you think you have a serious problem, consult your physician.

Yup. That's how it pretty much starts. The first few might be like that. Keep pads handy for a few days, since it might start back up again. (Sometimes it'll be on and off for the first few periods.)
