the veteran music director aged 84, who died today is Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He died in hospital in the western Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay).

His career spanned four decades and he directed almost 50 films and also wrote a number of his own films of simple stories and about Indian middle class.

Do Bigha Zamin (Two acres of land) in 1953, Anuradha 1960, Asli-Naqli 1962, Anupama 1966, Aashirwad 1968, Satyakam 1969, Guddi 1971,Bawarchi 1972, 1973 film Abhiman, Mili 1975, Chupke Chupke 1975 and Bemisal 1982. Mukherjee was also responsible for casting Amitabh Bachchan in a prominent role in Anand (film) 1970, along with Rajesh Khanna, Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate in 1998.

1970 film Anand - has one of my most favourite song - Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye. i can listen to this allll day and night and not get fed up of it.

Mathumati - has another fav. Aaja Re Pardesi. There are others too that i like but anything with lataji is a must for me, especially golden oldies and any sad sad slow songs.

Also, any songs by Mukesh is great too.
I also like the songs from Abhiman, and the odd one from most films of his listed
