If you are very lucky, the main fuse blew before the auto electronics (computer controls) were damaged. Trace the positive cable to a black box that contains the main fuses. Check the fuses there, and replace any that have been blown.
Charge and load test (or replace) the battery. If the car will crank but not start, you most likely will need to replace the computer! At that point, I would recommend you take the car to a good auto electric shop!

Several things to check out first before going any farther or further. 1) Check the fuses located under the drivers side dash off to the left of the dash panel. Replace any that are fried. 2) Remove the old battery and both cables very carefully, as the battery may be leaking form the electrical shock. Replace the battery and both cables(remember to use dielectric grease, not petroleum jelly, on the terminals and cable ends). At the same time, have the alternator(generator on some cars) tested to make sure it's okay also. 3) If the car still won't start after doing all this, you may have to check and possibly replace the ECM(Electronic Control Module) unit which is located on the passenger side either in the glove box or right under AND slightly behind the glove box. FYI, if the battery IS leaking fluid, carefully remove it and place in a cardboard box and then put that onto a piece of plywood to keep the acid from destroying your concrete. Then, carefully wash the inside of the car where the battery was and some of the surrounding areas with a mixture of warm water and baking soda. Rinse well(avoiding as much of the electrical system as you can, although a little water won't hurt if you miss) again using hot water and you'll be fine. Otherwise, the left over acid WILL eventually eat right through the metal and some plastics in the engine compartment!!

I Agree, It feels like Your Alternator... start up the motor vehicle purchase jumping It Off, Disconnect The Jumper Cables, Disconnect between the Battery Cables. If the motor vehicle Dies that is a tell-tale signal Of a foul Alternator. you may have vehicle-Zone, Orielys, Or maximum Any huge container vehicle aspects shops Can attempt The Charging gadget (regularly free of cost).

Have it towed to the shop. If you are lucky you may just need a new battery and cables replaced. If you are not lucky you may have a lump of metal that will never run again, because you may have fried the electronics, starting with the very expensive to replace computer. Only your mechanic will know for sure.

she's lucky she didnt get a face full of acid! My old lady almost did this, but as soon as the cable was close to the terminal, sparks shot out everywhere and the metal clip on my jumpers MELTED! I don't know for sure that this will wreck your car, but I'd check the plugs, alternator, and battery first...

She must have blown the main fuse, not sure where it is in a metro, but it will be at least 60 amps. It won't be in the main fuse box near the driver, but somewhere near the battery. You'll have to trace it out to find it.

Your wife, eh? You might want to change your picture before you try that one.
Maybe nothing was hurt, maybe the entire electrical system if fried. Nothing to do but start troubleshooting.
