I want to stop the "top news headlines" tab from launching how do I do that?

I know I can delete it after it opens. I do not want it to automatically open in the first place.

do you mean on your "My Yahoo" page? -- you have the option of deleting the whole box/module -- look for the "x" at the top right of the box
