Can someone please tell me how to delete backgrounds and screensavers?

Right click on your desktop and go to Properties. Both background options and screensavers are listed under that.

Right click on desktop
Properties
Pick your background as none
Pick Coluor you want to fill the desktop
Screen saver
Right click on desktop
Properties
Power
Disable the screensaver

Do you really mean delete? or change?
To change both of these follow the advice of the first answer.
To delete background pictures and screensavers is something else.

Just right click and click on delete.
