I use MAC Cosmetics and it looks really good on my skin and its sheer. I've never tried Bare Minerals, so I can't compare. MAC is expensive, but it's worth it. You can only buy MAC at Macy's stores.

I use Affordable Mineral Makeup. I have tried a few others, but they either contains small amounts of preservatives or are made up with a lot of fillers. The mineral makeup goes a long way. It brings out your natural beauty while minimizing any flaws or wrinkles. It is multi-purpose and very versatile. Affordable Mineral Makeup is micro-formulated using the highest quality minerals and botanicals; being naturally preservative and irritant-free it is also weightless and incredibly long-wearing. It does not clog pores and it has a naturally high SPF. It helps to calm and soothe irritated skin with its zinc content, and is water resistant. Providing excellent coverage.
Affordable Mineral Makeup does not contain Bismuth Oxychloride like many of the other mineral foundations do. Bismuth can clog your pores and cause your skin to itch. There are problems associated with it. Its molecular makeup is a crystalline shape, which may be a cause of the itchiness some women get when they wear it. Many women experience noticeable itching when they sweat. Don't forget it is also kin to arsenic, chemically. Your body will reject things it does not like, and if you'll get sick from ingesting arsenic, it would make sense that your skin would get irritated from having arsenic forced into it. Companies use Bismuth in their cosmetics because it is cheap to buy and is an inexpensive filler. It does have binding qualities, so the makeup will "stick" to your skin, so to speak. But there are other products that are just as effective at adhesion, and are better for your skin.
Many other makeups contain preservatives that are also not good for your skin.

Hands down....Colorescience.
The answer above mine has some truth to it. Some mineral makeup does cause irritation. Mainly the cheaper ones because they do not take the time or money to microionize it finely enough (their fancy word for grinding down into little particles). These large particles of minerals will have an odd shape and can irritate sensitive people. That's why I suggest a more expensive brand like the one above. They have minerals microionized to a nano size, so it's not as likely to irritate the skin.

Seriously try BareMinerals. It works amazingly. You can get it in bigger jars at Sephora for about 30 dollars instead of a small jar online for like 60 dollars. Seriously, try it.

I use PurMinerals. I believe it is similar to bareminerals. I like it.
