A computerized axial tomography scan is more commonly known as CAT scan or CT scan. It is an x-ray procedure which combines many x-ray images with the aid of a computer to generate cross-sectional views and, if needed, three-dimensional images of the internal organs and structures of the body. A CAT scan is used to define normal and abnormal structures in the body and/or assist in procedures by helping to accurately guide the placement of instruments or treatments.

Electroencephalography (EEG) records brain waves, it's used to detect the level of electrical activity in the brain. Your brain cells communicate by electrical impulses, and an EEG measures and records these electrical impulses to detect anything abnormal.

An MRI of the head is a noninvasive procedure that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to construct clear, detailed pictures of brain tissues.MRI provides detailed pictures of the brain and nerve tissues from multiple angles without obstruction by overlying bone. In fact, about 90% of all MRI scans are for brain or spine disorders.

MRI is the procedure of choice for most brain disorders. MRI is particularly useful in brain and neurological disorders, because it can clearly show different types of nerve tissue. It provides clear pictures of the brainstem and posterior brain, which are difficult to view on CT scan. It is also useful for the diagnosis of demyelinating disorders. These are disorders such as multiple sclerosis, which cause destruction of the myelin covering of the nerve.

Computed tomography (CT) a skill of physique imaging wherein a skinny x-ray beam rotates around the affected person. Small detectors degree the quantity of x-rays that make it in the process the affected person or specific area of activity. a working laptop or computing gadget analyzes the records to construct a circulate-sectional image. those photographs could be saved, considered on a computer screen, or printed on action picture. to boot, 3-dimensional fashions of organs could be created by skill of stacking the guy photographs, or "slices." MRI is a non-invasive technique that makes use of helpful magnets and radio waves to construct photos of the physique. in comparison to usual radiography and computed tomographic (CT) imaging, which hire doubtless risky radiation (x-rays), MRI imaging relies on the magnetic properties of atoms. a helpful magnet generates a magnetic field greater or less 10,000 situations greater ideal than the organic historic past magnetism from the earth. an exceptionally small share of hydrogen atoms interior a human physique will align with this field.
