Learning French and German helped me to understand my own language more than I was taught in English classes.

I think taht second languages are very important and should be taught in schools. When continuing education, most majors require that you at least take one full year of a foreign language and if you have taken one in high school, you are one step ahead.

Actually, no. I don't think it should be required. It is okay as long as they are optional, for people that want to learn different languages, or go to other countries. It is a waste of a course in my opinion, because some people are never going to use that language.

It's taught already at my school. We have Spanish or French to chose from but we are required 2 years of it.

or if not Spanish, Latin because that is the basis of a lot of other languages and Sciences. If you know Latin, you can do other languages just fine, and you'll do fine in Science classes too

Yes, I do, though it shouldn't be a requirement. Not everyone has the interest -- or aptitude -- to learn a second language.

Yes, everybody should know at least a little bit of another language.

It is good because it helps keep Americans cognizant of other cultures and hammers home the fact that not everybody speaks English!

yes but i think it shoud be opptional becausewho wants to learn french if u never want to goto france but on the other hand it would be a pain in the *** for schools to teach 1 pupil indian but if they made like bigger coses that most children/teens would like to learn like maybe french spanish japanese dutch witch ever most children would like to learn japanese is very popular atm so maybe schools shold do a japanese crash course to see if they really like it then do acctual lessons or maybe not japanese but another langage
