yes..and you can have alcohol too...

well if you are using LEAD based paint...which is extinct now... that would be a lil more dangerous..but you would have to be bathed in lead based paint the entire pregnancy to raise your chance of getting lead poisoning, which could be passed to your baby.

Jees people.... stop being so scared of everything. We are a lot stronger than you think.

Not recommended at any stages in pregnancy due to fumes, but of you have to ( I did!) - open the windows and doors and don't sleep in that room for at least 3/4 days until the paint has totally dried up and the smell has gone from the room. Ventilate, ventilate and there will be no harm done. Also take regulare breaks from painting as you are still directly exposed to the smell as you are painting. Also don't overstretch yourself!

First I need to inform you that I am not a medical professional, that being said, yes it is ok for a women to paint during any stage of pregnancy. As lead is not used in paint anymore, this is a perfectly safe option to satisfy pregnancy bordem. I would however suggest ventilating the room well and using a respirator that you can purchase at any hardware store. After all passing out from the fumes would not be healthy to the fetus!

While in the middle trimester of my 2nd pregnancy, i painted every room of my house, and my doctor said it was fine as long as i leave all the windows open.

One word of advice...the colours you pick when you are pregnant, may not be the ones you would pick normally, so get another persons advice, i didnt, and ended up with a bright barbie pick coloured bathroom, which i loved. Once i got home from hospital, after having the baby, i went to the bathroom and realised that it looked totally revolting, and no-one had the heart to tell me other wise! 3 days later, it was white again!

We don't know exactly how the chemicals and solvents used in paint affect unborn babies. The simplest and safest answer is to let someone else do the painting or save it until after your baby's born.

Painting exposes you to many chemicals. Because it's so difficult to measure how much of the various substances the body actually absorbs, it is difficult to know the exact risks to pregnant women.

i think it would be ok for a little bit and if there are windows open. I wouldn't paint for more then an hour or so without taking an hour or so break outside and away from the fumes.

Is she planning on painting on a small canvas, the nursery wall or the Forth Road Bridge.

I should think the first two will be okay but not the third.

Yes, I tried to help paint the nursery but the smell of paint made me feel really sick. I had really bad morning sickness anyway and the paint made me feel really nauseous.

Years ago I would have said no due to the lead content in paint back then...no adays though, they have made paint better and non toxic -- so paint away if you're nesting. Just make sure the room is ventilated/aired and don't do it for long periods of time.
