What is strange is that you know, you are going. So, you must know how long you are going to be there. Regardless, a knife is a must. Just be glad that you have a choice of what you get to take. Some form of a fire starter would also be good. Sanity is some thing that you have with you, but, depending on the length of time. You may loose it very quickly. A Bible/Religious reference material. This will help you with any problem.

The three things I'd take would be the girl I like and my two best friends who would each in turn bring one other person and supplies and the other person would bring one more person and more necessary supplies continuing like that until my entire circle of friends is there and we have enough food supplies and man power to make an island paradise

"a backpack full of......", I think, is not acceptable. It could contain 30, 50 DIFFERENT things, not 3.
My 3 would be:
:a sleeping bag
a box of lighters
a large sheet of plastic with a central hole in it for catching
rainwater .
Since a fourth thing is not allowed, I will have to make do with large leaves to collect the rainwater in.

1- A backpack full of everything I'd need to survive like survival guide, the book ''where there is no doctor'', the book ''where there is no dentist'', a hunting knife, compass, flint, rope, rain gear, foldable shovel, solar powered battery charger, a book on home brewery and home distillery.
