Oh please buy her a real book and let her curl up in her duvet with it... it's not the same reading at the PC.

I agree with everyone else, nothing replaces a real book. I joined a cool on-line club, where I can exchange books. You can purchase an on-line gift certificate for your friend to get her started. If she's an avid reader it would be a nice thing to do.

not much of a gift either for a birthday giving her a slip of paper with a web address on it. If you were looking so you could print it off its probably a lot cheaper and alot less illegal if you just bought the book.

Nice thought, though, if I may, your friend might find it a bit eye-straining to try and read a lot on the screen. Why not get her a "paper" book she can take and read anywhere?

If you find or hear about any website on which you can get free books, please let me know. Otherwise you'll have to bust into Barns and Noble after they've closed, grab as many as you can and run for it. I wouldn't recommend that though.

Buy her some book tokens, for gods sake! 'Free' books on the web are great, but if like me, she likes to read in the bog and in bed, then they are less then useless.
