The pain is from your breasts swelling with fluid due to hormonal changes. You can't stop the hormonal cascade that happens prior to your period, but you can control the pain, try Motrin (Ibuprofen) or Midol. Midol is a combination of tylenol (pain reliever), caffeine and a mild diuretic. The caffeine makes you feel more energetic and the diuretic may help take some of fluid away. Or you can try plain Motrin (ibuprofen), a pain reliever. Birth control pills may lessen the problem also.

I still get breast pain, at 32. Sometimes, I'll wear a sports bra instead of a regular bra, and that helps things from jiggling and getting more irritated. If you can, take a low-dose ibuprofen every twelve hours (maybe 200 mg?), and do lower-impact exercise when they hurt. I generally moisturize after showering, just to keep the nipples from chafing so much. Maybe that will help?

Oil of Evening Primrose 1000mg per day, you can buy capsules in any pharmacy. This is higher than the dose they recommend on the packaging, but won't do you any harm and is the recommended treatment of choice for mastalgia (breast pain) by breast specialists. You may need to take it for a couple of months before you notice a significant difference, but it's worth persevering.

First- wear a good bra that fits properly. I have also heard (but not tried) that putting a leaf of cabbage in each bra cup helps with the pain. I had this problem for a couple of years and it eventually went away on its own. Also, avoid caffeine and dairy products around that time of the month and the pain will be more manageable.
