Now we are not supposed to call democrat party "democrat" instead we are supposed to call them "democratic".

If you cannot be proud of who you are, we are you that way?

The name does nothing but dress up the ideas espoused, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Why are liberal Democrats so uber-sensitive.

What will the new words be for progressive and democratic when they are decided to be out of date?

That's been my point all along! Your not addressing why the stereotype exists or how that word got to be bad, but just changing the word! The ridiculousness of being a liberal, never ceases to amaze. If being liberal is so bad that they had to change to being called "progressive" than maybe you should stop being a liberal! (stop using progressive car insurance too, that guy named his company for that reason. He's ultra liberal.)

I'm not quite sure it has ever been asked to not call democrats Democrats. The argument you provide could also be used for Conservative Republican.

A liberal is someone who leans to the left, but does not consider themselves a complete democrat. Just as a conservative is someone who leans to the right, but both of these types do not claim to be a full-blown member of either party. They're in the middle of the road or independent, but do familiarize themselves with more of one side of the main two parties than the other.

A progressive liberal is someone who leans to the left for assertive change of leftist ideas. Like an aggresive proponent of legalizing stem cell research and funding would be a progressive liberal.

Whoever is asserting tht the President started the name of Democrat party, you'd better check your history books.
It was Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
The changing from noun to adjective has been perpetrated by Newt Gingrich, and Bob Dole, and even a few reporters.

Firstly, I proudly wear the "liberal" label, and secondly, it isn't the Democrat party. It is the Democratic party, and those who support it are Democrats. I am a Democrat.

Progressive is what liberals are.

See the difference?

Democratic is a new word? Pres. Bush, is that you?

The other day Sen. Max Baucus refered to Republicans as "Republics"... would you like that new label?

I've got worse names for them but I won't go into that. I will not call them progressives because thats a term that mistakenly lets you think they are jumping forward for the good of the country. And i will not call them Democratics cause they are anything but. The liberal name is considered a bad name, something they earned and deserve and will have to live with!

Liberals are "uber sensitive" because they are sensitive for everyone, I know some people still have a "every man for themselves" or an "every feeling for themselves" view. As if it is weird to defend for what is right, rather than what benefits us only, which is what conservatives think. We have to be sensitive for every feeling, the souls of the many, not the few.

It would be impossible for me to call a liberal progressive. Considering my conservative nature I would only consider a liberal as regressive.

you are deeply misinformed.

there is no such thing as the 'democrat' party.

the party is called the democratic party and always has been.

when bush congratulated the 'democrat' party, he demonstraed his vast ignorance and his deep partisan nature.

you might try doing a basic google search before firmly inserting your foot into your mouth...

Like man they are still like trying to find themselves. I guess if and when they ever do they will stop with the name changes. As Shakespeare said "A rose by any other name".
