Enough with the stability and heat crap, they are BOTH stable, and both run cool enough to not cause any problems. Honestly this is really a dead heat, in some areas the Athlon will perform better, in other areas the Pentium will perform better, and they both cost the same amount of money. The best advice anyone can legitimately give you is to get whichever one you can get a better price on, there is no substantial difference in the two.

I have run AMD for years with never any problems or failures. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 is a dual core processor. The 4200+ means that it will work as fast as comparable Intel processors running at 4.2ghz,while only running at 3.3 or 3.4ghz.

The AMD processor palms down. Pentium Ds do no longer carry out besides in benchmarks and have subject concerns with overheating. top now basically the Intel center 2 Duo is extra appropriate than Athlong64 X2s.

not amd for 1 its not duo tec its 64 what is it with ppl and not learning about pc first
xp64 x2 is the xp 64bit edtion to windows unless you have motherboard prosser windows xp64bit you wont noticxe the diffrence
mainy diffrence is the 64 uses higher securty faster prosseing
if the program is compatible with 64bit
so id say stick to the pd 3.4 you get 3.4 gig pros speed with amd you get 2.8 on a 3.4 chip i know this i have two systems a 64 bit for the server side and a pd 3.4 for users
pentium chips are more expensive but run better faster for what i use it for
at the nd of the day its personal choice but remeber the amd 4.2 chip will run at 3.4 to 3.80 maybe more with overclocking only
the pd 3.4 will run at 3.4 constant

The AMD is the far faster and more stable cpu. (After all, Intel had to recall cpus, not amd). Here's the prove for speed.
