Im writing about how American girls are very materialistic, and crave money, but I do not know how to start off the essay or what concrete details Im gonna put in it. help!

That would be a completely unfair essay to write. You cannot generalize any country's population into such a theory, let alone a country the size of the US.

I think the reason American girls have this reputation of being materialistic is because of our focus on Hollywood as a nation. Icons like Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears, etc. give the image of materialism and desire for money and fame. I don't believe that all American girls are materialistic, but I do understand how other countires might view American women in this manor based upon our Hollywood influence.

I don't believe that it is only americans, but anyone with the opportunity to prosper. I remarked to a greek women how beautiful the sunset was, and also the night launch of the space shuttle recently and she told me she had no use for such things, did I mention that she lives in a mansion and drives a brand new foreign car, I guess she could only appreciate things that money can buy. But it does seem that materialism, decadence, and hedonism is running rampant. Fortunately, not everyone is this way.

Not all American girls are materialistic. I think most of us want to have a comfortable life style. Meaning, the bills are paid, a roof over our heads, food in the cupboards, that kind of stuff. I think your topic is a generalization, and not an accuration one at that. I'm not say there aren't girls that are, but most girls are not.

Maybe you should write about why you believe that all the Hollywood girls in those gossip magazines are all like that. Really, are you that gullible that you would believe that all American girls are represented by the girls written about by these magazines whose only objective is to be a inflammatory as possible in order to sell as many issues as possible?

Not all American girls are materialistic, but I would agree that a large number of people are in pursuit of material possessions. It is a sign of wealth and status in our county.

Smart girls know that money is a very much needed thing in America. Girls get old after years...and smart girls know that Rich OLD girls still have fun....poor OLD girls dont.
