First of all, I can only hope that the liberals are kept from positions of power.
I believe that this question answers itself. Of course the democrats will back down.......that's pretty much all they do! If a democRAT is elected this country will collapse, we just can't afford to have another bigoted fool in office (maybe we should have a minimum IQ of 90 to get into the presidential office. That will keep the democRATs out of office.)

Dems routinely back down from challenges because they are primarily poll driven.Take the Iraq war. Hillary voted for it, so did Edwards and so did Kerry. When the going gets tough, and the polls show the public is becoming impatient, the Dems run for cover and make idiotic statements like"If I knew then what I knew now..." This is why they can't win with the American people.
So they won some midterm elections, so what. The truth is every second term president suffers mightily in his sixth year of office.
Their house and senate gains were below the normal historical average for the 6th year. It's history DEMS, not a mandate.
Why don't the Dems, who believe they were thrust into power because of their anti-war stance forget the symbolic votes and actually do something about the war if that's what they believe.
Or will they just wait for the next poll to tell them what to do?
Two years from now we'll see how many more seats they gain and who wins the presidency.

If we want to limit the amount of military conflicts we get into, we need to stick to our convictions. The person I vote for must have strong convictions, to stick to the agreements they get into. One issue in this world is that people have changed the rules after the deal has been made. The party that allows that change and even embraces it will force future generations to take a harder stance.
It starts out with a simple decision, like a person letting their spouse cheat on them, and not having the ability to stop it the first time, so it happens again and again until the spouse does it because he can. I would not vote for that person or their spouse.

If Obama and Hillary are the leading candidates, I don't think the GOP has a problem. The GOP will retain the White House.
Gee......as easy as the GOP seems to make it for the Dems sometimes, the Dems keep tripping over themselves and fall flat on their face.

Well, first, what Bush has isn't character. It's pure cowboy stubborness. He refuses to listen to people who tell him that his course of action in Iraq is wrong. He says he is willing to listen to other plans, but as soon as he gets a plan, or a suggestion, he trashes it. If a general in the field speaks against him, or disagrees with him, he removes them from their command.
This "my way" mentality has been a disaster for this country. I can understand someone sticking to a plan, but when it is shown to be wrong or flawed, then change it.
he newest approval ratings are in the toilet and he still has nearly two years to go.
But to answer your question: I sincerely hope not. Nearly every president is challanged in one way or another within 4 months of them taking office.
Knowing full well that the next president will be a democrat, I honestly hope that they display some backbone and stand up and meet the challanges. Do what is good for this country.

We will back down from all challenges.....I think its a good thing to take care of the homeland stuff. But we need to finish what we start, no matter the reason we started it or we will be the biggest target for every wacko out there. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!!

Care to cite any examples of them backing down? I think we've recognized his character plenty. You can see it in his approval ratings. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush will go down in history as THE worst president to have ever been in office.

You had better pray that we don't get one. They actually think we can talk and reason with the terrorists.
