Hello, my sisterinlaw is a u.s. resident and is planning to go to mexico for a month. now with the new passaport law that just began on jan 25 does she need a u.s. passaport to enter the u.s againg on her return. or is her residency card enough for her to show. thanks

Yes, the answer that said that if she is NOT a U.S. citizen is correct. Only citizens can get US. passports. Alos, a passport is ONLY needed for AIR travel to and from Mexico until Jan. 2008...after that a passport will be needed for all types of travel.

You used to be able to travel to Mexico and other Carribean locales on a birth certificate. Now you need a passport. That also includes Canada.

She is not a U.S citizen, so she will not be able to get a U.S passport, She needs her resident card and her passport from the country were she was born.

Yes, she does need a passport now. My husband and I went to Mexico in Dec. 06 and we were told at Customs we would have to have a passport if we came back.
