For those floridians, we will be waking up with temperatures between 27-49 degrees depending on where you are in the state. 27 degrees in North Florida and temperatures as low as 49 or lower in Miami expected. Those in the middle of the state varies. What are your thoughts?

Despite Florida's reputation as a tropical paradise (if you can call it that) within the US, the southern tip is located farther north than the Tropic of Cancer line (similar latitude of Cuba), thus making it actually sub-tropical rathern than truly tropical (like Hawaii). Florida is very flat and can be affected by cold air travelling down from the continental US. But because it is still surrounded by warm ocean on 3 sides, freezing in Florida is fairly rare but still happens once in a while.

Time to take my orchids off the tree and put them in the bathtub. It's not the first time, every couple of years it get's down to or below freezing here in Tampa.
