we could be ready if we had large buildings conected to atomic reactors for powering large where hoses of plants that would be grown with lights and underground wells could provide water we could have living quarters this could be done on a large scale every city could be connected empty buildings in cities could provide the facility what do think could this work

Your solution is way too complicated. The best way to survive a meteor collision is to prevent it. In other words, change its course so it avoids Earth, or if it's small enough vaporize it with nukes.

If the thing struck right now before we built any kind of defenses, we'd be doomed because:

1) If it hits the ocean (most likely) there will be huge tidal waves that cover many of the major coastal cities in water.

2) The anarchy created by the blast would prevent any work from being accomplished.

3) Seismic activity caused by the impact might cause any enclosed environments we build to collapse.

More than likely that would not happen because meteors burn up in our atmosphere. If that were to happen though i think we would be ready. Already this year One meteor has striked a New Jersey Home and another a young womans car some where.

sounds like a plan but who gets to decide who goes in, assuming of course the shock waves dont obliterate the complex. Besides to me I think it would be alot like a severe nuclear exchange what would be left behind would be uninhabitable for a very long time and I would'nt fancy being a mole for all my life.
