If you are having problems with the heater on a t-bird you need to have it fixed by a pro. The Dash has to be removed to get to the heater core on the T-birds from I think 79 on up. It is the fox body, the same platform as the mustang, and it is a real chore. It took me 6 hours to do mine an 84 model.

The heater core is inside or under the dash.
2 hoses run from the engine through the firewall to the heater core. Then outside air runs through the vent through the heater core and you have heat.

Oh my.......
The heater core is inside the passanger compartment.
There are two hoses connected to it at the firewall. (one for in, and one for out.)
The engine does't have a heater core.
