I have bought two tankless water heaters. The first one was defected and the company did refund my money, however not the cost for plummer and electrician. The second one I had to pick-up upon the plummers request. The electrician said wrong one but still may work. We are still taking cold showers and do not want to deal with the same contractors.
My spouse has given me one more chance to get this right or go with a regular water heater. We live in the Dallas- Ft.Worth area. Anyone dealt with a company that did both the electric and plumming? Thanks

There are numerous companies that sell and INSTALL tankless water heaters with WARRANTIES. Look up in the yellow pages either Plumbing Companies OR HVAC Companies. Sgtay away from the little guy that might not have the experience or knowledge as to how to do a proper installation and venting to your city or county codes. The electrical requirements are specified for the tankless heater purchased. If an electrician is necessary the plumber/HVAC company will let you know.
The better tankless heaters do a good job and include warranties.

The most success I've seen with these was to buy from, and have installed by, the gas company or licensed gas contractor. then I (the plumber) did the water connections, then the electrician did the wiring (electric ignitor for gas burner)

If you supply the heater yourself ( buy it bring it home and then have someone install it) you are assuming responsibility for the unit itself. If it's a dud like the first one you have no recourse except to the mfctr.directly, and you may not be as lucky next time as you are not a contractor. Have one of the contractors take this responsibility to protect yourself (from a faulty heater and your wife)

Menards offers a few types of tankless water heaters some of which qualify for a federal tax credit of $300 they probably can refer a good contractor in your area.

My local LP gas company sold me the thingummy and did the entire installation. That was 25 years ago and other than having it cleaned once or twice, it has worked flawlessly.
