Most emo is a little whiny for my taste, but ska, punk and grunge are some of my favorites.

I try not to think about ska and emo.
Some classic punk is good(Sex Pistols and the Misfits.) The new stuff people call punk isn't punk.
As far as gunge goes Soundgarden and Alice In Chains where good.
