both of those answers are correct you need to put both the modem and router in sync with each other, run the disc that comes with the router and you should have no problem,, good luck

internet line to modem, router to modem then computer to router, for wireless you have to set up the router. open internet and type 192.168.0.1 or whatever gets into router, you have to set a SSID on router then on the laptop go to manage devices find the wireless card and go to properties and set the same SSID on the card. any Q's email me jstimpert@gmail.com

when you add a wireless router for wireless connection for your sister laptop to cable sourse, you should do as folowing;cable input connect to your modem, from moderm to router to your desktop. .She has to use the cd(from router) to her computer to program to your wireless router.complicate? not really.
cable>modem>router>desktop
also from router to >laptop(through wireless)
