except in the south. The songs have beautiful lyrics if they were to actually listen and now a days there is no banjo in the background music. Theres a nice tune with a person who has a beautiful voice and words coming out of their mouth.

It seems to depend a lot on where you are and who your friends were when you were starting to get into music. Most of my friends aren't really into country but some of them won't listen to anything but country. I didn't really like it when my freinds started playing it, but, now 10 or 12 years later it is one of my favorites. It is definitely the most lyrically based modern music and a lot of the songs tell a great story.

I live in Northern California. I am 31 years old and I was brought up on Country Music when "Country Wasn't Cool". I had a few friends that listened, but not as much as I did. I never hid that I liked country music, but by the time I graduated, all the kids were dressing the part. It was like a smack in the face, cause it was the same kids who made fun of me since I was little. But I felt like I finally belonged. All I ever wanted to be was a country singer, but I never did anything to take that first step. The closest I get is karaoke at my local bar around the corner from my house. And all I sing is COUNTRY MUSIC!!! True to my heart, there will never be anything to keep me from the music I love. I don't care if people make fun of it. At least you can understand what country musicians are singing!!!

Lots of people like country music. Look at the way it sells & look at the different artists that are making a living singing country music. I have also noticed that banjo playing is not as prevalent as in the old days. I love banjo music as much as the fiddle & steel guitar.

My united states track tale is like some DOWN domicile, reeeaaaal united states female, rodeo family contributors legend. lower back while my cousin (Zack Daniel, Oklahoma all around State Cowboy of the year intense college branch 2000) became nonetheless on the line with rodeo, i became a sprint youngster sittin' interior the backseat of his previous, beat up,pink, bull horns on the hood limo. We performed George Strait, Garth Brooks, Chris LeDoux, Reba McEntire, and Travis Tritt albums NON stop. It became actually the only track I knew for the 1st 5 years of my existence. while the rodeos have been interior of reach or we've been taking the livestock to the stockyards, i might trip in my grandpas truck there, and then in my grandmas caddy lower back. For an hour and a nil.5, we would fly down flat and without postpone Oklahoma highways, snapping our arms to the beat of The Judds or Keith Whitley, in accordance with who's tape she had in that day. It became my first lesson in the thank you to maintain a beat, that's provided in obtainable now that I play 2 gadgets. ultimately, i became bron into it. Plus once you improve up everywhere in Oklahoma, no longer basically the small cities, united states track is nearly impossible to stay away from.

It all comes down to what's "socially acceptable" Society has put a stigma on country music of it being "not cool", so most people just don't take the time to listen to it. I personally don't prefer most country music just because I don't like the sound of it, but there has been a couple songs I heard that I enjoyed the lyrics. But, same goes for rap music that has a bad rap (excuse the pun). Not all rap music is about "b*tches and hoes", but, society has placed that label.

Country music has gone the same way as most music where people just want to hear what's basically the same song over and over again. Most country songs are really corny, too. If you want good country music listen to Son Volt or something from 40 years ago.

I think you're mistaken. I live in Canada and like some Country Music. Admittedly, a lot IS overly Patriotic or maudlin or whatever, but there are a lot of songs about Family Values that I like.
Tim McGraw's usually good.

The COUNTRY & WESTERN music field lost a lot of northern fans when Garth Brooks came onto the scene... He was a total ****-hole. But Toby Keith , The Kentuckty HeadHunters , Billy Ray , Terri Clark , and Cross Canadian Ragweed all Rock .
The Dixie Chix are cool, too . They speak their piece .

There was a huge upswing in teens taking a liking to Country music. I personally don't like it because I get bored with it. I appreciate what they're saying, but its too melodramatic for my liking. Other then that I'm not sure, it's one of those things where if he doesn't like it, I don't like it. Don't wanna be the weird one and like country music.
