I have to read a novel for my English class. It needs to be written by an African American because of Black History Month. I prefer a mystery or any kind of fast pace book. Your answers are appreciated!! Thx!

Try something by Walter Mosley.

Sula by Toni Morrison isn't too long. It's a story about friendship, though.

Native Son by Richard Wright is not a mystery, but it has a lot of twists. It's not exactly on the short side, but I goes by quickly.

Well their is House of Dies Drear but that's too easy and then there is Little Black Boy which is a good novel to read.

"The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison - it's very short, very sad and very good
