Not popular in the eastern countries? The Japanese are so fond of it that they actually try to claim that it's was invented there.
The thing is that baseball was spread around the world by US troops any time they were stationed there. And of course, the US has never had troops stationed in India. That's the good news for your county. But in terms or learning about baseball, that's not so good news.
If you live near the US embassy in India or near any of the US consulates in the country, that may be one of the best ways to learn. You could also, of course, go the Japanese, Korean, Canadian, Dominican Republic, Mexican, Venezuelan, Colombian, Nicaraguan or Taiwanese embassy or consulate. There are some other countries in which baseball is played, but not yet to that extent. It's growing.

Baseball is gaining popularity world-wide. In the World Baseball Classic, Italy and Netherlands both fielded teams. From the east, China, Chinese Tai-Pei, South Korea, and Japan all fielded teams (Japan won the tournament in fact). Australia also fielded a team, as did South Africa, Venezuela, Cuba, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and of course, Canada and the United States. The line-up for 2010 is yet to be determined. Let's see a team from India, and UK. The more the merrier.
