a free dvd codec for windows media player is only available in the US; try VLC media player instead - no additional codec download needed

or you can use the following dvd plugin with winamp

If you are using an authentic DVD, not a bootleg copy, you should already have the decoder provided to you on the disc. Delete any files you may have uploaded from the DVD you intended to view. Reinsert the disc and choose the option of loading the additonal software provided to you on the DVD. The codecs you need to view the disc is usually part of that software bundle.
If that does not work, open media player right click on now playing, choose More Options, and select FileTypes. Be certain to select all the available file types and close the option box.

Now,install the disc and cancel it from loading. You can then open up windows media and navigate to the D: drive. right click on the media player icon on the top left of the window. select file, Open, and then click on the drop down arrow to open the D:drive. You should see your DVD disc and title of the movie there. double click on the disc. You should see the contents of the disc open up and the SETUP option shown. Select setup and the codecs should be loaded into media player to allow you to view the movie from that player.

farewell.

The easiest thing you want to try first is to just reload the latest Windows Media Player. If that doesn't work then you can try to troubleshoot the problem by visiting Microsoft's support page.

K-lite is the most comprehensive Codec Pack. I fixed all the issue with my vids/audios. Link here http://bitly.com/1uUrKEi
It works very well.
