With all due resect to the many answerers. The way they did it is wrong for a beginner. DO ONE STEP AT A TIME.
7(x-y+z) - 3(-2x-4y+1)
1. 7x -7y +7z - 3(-2x-4y+1) expand first parenthesis
2. 7x -7y +7z + 3(2x + 4y -1) put (-1*) inside 2nd parenthesis
3 7x -7y +7z +(6x +12y -3) put 3* inside 2nd () aka (expand it)
4 parenthesis vanish 7x -7y +7z +6x +12y -3
5. group like terms 7x + 6x -7y + 12y +7z - 3
6 do the math 13x +5y +7z-3 (ok I didn't do it one at a time here... but on a sheet of paper I'd be crossing out terms and stuff you cant capture here...)

First: eliminate parenthesis > multiply the outer terms with the terms in parenthesis....

7(x) + 7(- y) + 7(z) - 3(-2x) - 3(- 4y) - 3(1)

7x - 7y + 7z - (- 6x) + 12y - 3

7x - 7y + 7z + 6x + 12y - 3

Sec: combine "like" terms...

7x + 6x - 7y + 12y + 7z - 3

= 13x + 5y + 7z - 3

I m assuming it is a simplification problem
open the brackets and do not forget to change sign

7x-7y+7z+6x+12y-3
= 13x-5y+7z-3

7(x-y+z) - 3 (-2x-4y+1) =
= 7x - 7y + 7z +6x + 12y- 3 =
= 13x + 5y + 7z - 3

this is what I've got
Good Luck !!!!

7x - 7y + 7z + 6x + 12 y - 3 =
13x + 5y + 7z - 3

just combine like terms after distributing (distributive property)
