This is not a contest. I am looking for good ideas not people who boast because of how green they are. People making comments like, "Can you say as much?" that cause people to turn away from an way of living. Peace!

We use fluorescent bulbs which last longer and save energy.

We recycle aluminum cans which help the environment and save energy.

We take old magazines to a local nursing home so they are used again.

We wash only full loads of clothes and use only cold water.

We run the dishwasher only when full.

I use only latex paint.

We avoid buying drain cleaners & use a plunger or drain wire.

We never leave unnecessary lights on.

I have a high mileage car.

I caulk and insulate my house.

We keep the heat & air to a minimum comfort level.

Every one of my cleaning products is green. I'd use vinegar, baking soda, etc, but I need help with housework and homecare workers aren't given the amount of time with any given client that is needed to use that much muscle power, so those green products are a compromise for me.

My computer has a hibernation mode.

I turn lights off, and the bulbs are flourescent.

I take public transit when I can. When I can't it's because I'm disabled and need to use a paratransit service. But before I needed that service, I took public transit or walked everywhere.

I cook for myself as much as I can, from a whole foods diet. It's not as much as I could before my disabilites worsened, but it's as much as I can manage. And I try to buy local, seasonal produce.

I recycle.

I don't even HAVE a dishwasher, nor do I want one.

I don't even purchase newspapers or magazines, so I have that much less paper to recycle.

I borrow books from the public library instead of buying them for myself, which would destroy that many more trees.

I'm a vegan.

Can you say as much?

Vinegar and baking soda can be used for everyday cleaning and don't damage the environment. I also use energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs. We also only drive one car instead of having two cars. We bought a minivan for our family that is much more fuel efficent than a large suv. In addition, you can join freecycle in your area. That way you can give your items away instead of sending them to landfills. Many people post everything from appliances, to building materials, and tons of stuff for kids. There is always someone who wants your "junk".

Dollarstrecher.com has alot of articles on the subject you might want to check it out.

I use vinegar for cleaning---it is FAB on carpets---fresher smelling,no stiff carpet and reduces other home odor's.
I use solar salt for my ice and snow outside. It is pet friendly on their paws and my carpet.
I leave my heat on 65 at all times and use a sweater if I am cold.
I have cut my heating bill tremendously.
