I recommend these sites:

www.myspace.com
www.emp3world.com
www.mp3shits.com
www.yourmp3.net
www.mp3dimension.com

You can also try these search engines:

www.dogpile.com
www.singingfish.com

Free music off of the Internet is illegal. If the RIAA decides to crack down on the massive problem you can face thousands of dollars in fines and even small amounts of time in jail/federal-prison. In some cases you may also have your computer taken by force to help pay your bail from prison if you are given a prison sentence.

A good site I've run across that explores your musical tastes for free is Pandora Internet Radio. There's no software to download and from their site you can download the song off of iTunes or the entire album off of Amazon.com.

Either go to
http://music.cn.yahoo.com/?source=yahoo_hp_vtabs

and although everything is in a different language, just in the top search bar, type in your song that you want to download. Then press enter. When it goes to the page, to listen to it, click on the earphones next to the title. It tells you what kind of format each one is in. To download, right click on the title of the song, and click on 'save target as'. And as simple as that. It's 100% free.
Otherwise, you can go to http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml
I don't reccomend this site because you have to download but for the first one you don't. And sometimes on limewire you have to pay. I tried it. I reccommend the first one, it's awsome.
