Iraq is the cradle of terrorism. If we don't take control THERE, then the battle will come HERE and 9/11 will look like a Fourth of July fireworks display. The extremists do not like us. EVERY SINGLE American citizen is an infidel and in their eyes, should be killed. That means you, me, everybody.
I was in DC during the Anti-war protest yesterday and it was idiocy. The people we spoke to could only say "War is Bad" or "I don't like Bush", but no one could back those statements up. No one wants war and everyone knows war is costly, but sometimes war is necessary to protect our way of life and the very existence of our country. If we left Iraq now, the power vacuum would be huge and would multiple our problems here.
Do I agree 100% with the current Government? NO. I would like to see the kid gloves come off and swifter action to disable the insurgent parties. Get the new government in place and get out sooner. But just vacate now? no.
I have many friends in the armed services who support the war and the actions of the government. Those are the opinions I value because those are the people who are risking their lives for us. If they believe in it, I do, too. War is hell, but a jihad on American soil would be worse.
