Pardon me for my stupidness.. my baby is going to be a month old... I'm sandwiches between my wife, mother-in-law and my mum.. each have different opinion... my wife don't have enough breast-milk and so i have to give my baby formula milk(enfalac).. so my mother-in-law will feed the baby 90ml whenever the baby is crying... my mum say that not to feed the baby whenever she cry.. use the pacificer and feed the baby like every 2 hour as the baby do not know she is full or hungry... my wife is mad at me cause i'm not hearing/doing what my mother-in-law say... I AM STRESS... what should i do??

Your baby will only cry when he/she needs something, so if you change the baby and meet all the needs and she/he is still crying....SHE IS HUNGRY! Please do not listen to those that say you will spoil a baby if you hold them or cuddle them when they cry, infants only cry because they are in need of something, that is their only defense in their helpless state. I am sorry for your predicament but your wife, mom, and mother in law need to back off and relax, it is a baby, and you should not strictly regulate when, how much, how often they should be fed, burped changed or sleep, trust me you and your family will be much happier with a baby that is loved and cared for on its own terms anyway. Babies are funny, their schedules and needs change daily and until they find one they like they will keep you guessing.

I too have a 1 month old except i breastfeed her. She eats about every 2-3 hours during the day and goes about 5-6 at night. Since your baby is on formula it should be able to go even longer since formula takes longer to digest. I agree with your mom just cause the baby is crying does not mean that she is hungry. If you know that you just fed the baby and its still crying try pacifier or rocking or talking to the baby. May be just crying for some attention then if that still doesnt stop the crying then feed.

A breast fed baby should be nursed every 2 to 3 hours it depends on the baby. However, if the baby has been nursed and is still crying the baby may need to burp, need to be changed oh may actually still be hungry when giving a baby a bottle after the baby has just been nursed and it also depends on how long the baby nursed will determine how much to feed the baby. If the baby nursed at least 10min on the breast and is still fussy ,and won't take the pacifer, and has already burped then you would probably want to give the baby about 30ml (1oz) of formula because overfeeding the baby can give the baby a tummy ache...I hoped I help...

Sometimes when babies cry it's because they have gas or just need some comfort. I would tend to agree with your mother in-law thought. Most babies at 1month of age are eating about 2-4oz's. If you keep feeding your baby all the time you will end up over-feeding her and your baby could develope gastroenteritis which is an inflammation of the bowls caused from overeating. I used to do the same thing with my son and he got gastroenteritis and it is not comfortable at all for them. Being a first time parent is not easy but just relax and use the help of those around you.
Good Luck!

If your a new parent than get that book by Dr. Spock. It's a lifesaver when there's noone with any baby knowledge around. And as far as feeding I'd say at least once or twice a week oughta do it.(Just kidding for Gods Sakes I have 4 kids!!!)

I think that you should feed the baby when ever it wants to, but when the baby is about 2 months you should start learning it a schedule of food. If not there is a risk of obesity later in life.
