When did hosiery start having lycra in them and does it make them better ?

It keeps the shape better but, my goodness, it makes you SWEAT LIKE A HORSE!!!!
I had to ditch all my lycra hosiery and tops because I was always perspiring .....
*hitches up baggy non-lycra tights*

Yes it does ,it keeps its shape and stops them going baggy.
