What is the difference?

A job is a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, especially as one's trade, occupation, or profession. a position in which one is employed, a task that must be done: Washing the windows is not my job. a specified duty or responsibility, a specific piece of work to be done for a set fee: an expensive repair job, the object to be worked on, something resulting from or produced by work.

A career is a chosen pursuit; a profession or occupation, the general course or progression of one's working life or one's professional achievements: an officer with a distinguished career; a teacher in the midst of a long career.

The difference seems to be that a job is something you do, but a career has the implication of a progression attached to it.

I have a career.

To me that is, a job is just a job, to get by in life. A career spells prospects and promising future and that ya on the roll and taking steps to climb the ladder of success. Btw i have a job. I dont see myself working in that line for long. However, Im working on my career now in another field. :)

I have a career, which involves different jobs.

You can have a career in Teaching, say, but have a job such as being a Grade 9 Math Teacher.

To me, basically both are considered work. Job is a steady pay check. A career is a job that you have achieved through your goals in life and education.
Hopefully you find what is right for you and that you enjoy what you do.
