I have had similar problems. I tried with different Internet browsers which have different software and security setups and it helped.
For accessing Yahoo, the fastest browser is Mozilla Firefox and the slowest is Opera.
MS Internet Explorer often crashes so I try to avoid using it. Of course the connection speed depends on the number of users and which part of the day you try to access.

The problem is not coming from your computer,sometimes you find it difficult to reach your server.If you log out and log on again the problem might be solved

You haven't recently downloaded a large program that has slowed your computer down have you? I had the same trouble after downloading Google Earth. I had to uninstall it...
