I have a 2004 Dell desktop. I went to turn the volume up, and well, there was no volume button! I went to my programs then accessories, and when I clicked on volume control, it says something like I need to install new hardware? Hmm. Now, why do I need to install new hardware for my sound? PLEASE TELL ME WHERE MY SOUND WENT?

Thanks!

Built-in sound cards (part of the motherboard) can have driver issues, especially if you used Microsoft Update and selected to update your sound card drivers...often the Microsoft update will misread your hardware and install an incorrect drive....go to the Dell site and look for the support page to find your sound driver.

That happened to my 2007 computer also. Try restarting the computer. It helped for me
