Find out who handle the police dog unit. Telephone that person and set up an appointment to talk with them. Most people are eager to share what they do at their jobs with others. Then ask them who trains the dogs and telephone those people to ask them how to get into the field.

The first thing to do is join the police service,, then become a police dog handler,, after the probation period,, then after working with police dogs and learning all of the skills required of a police dog handler, you could become a trainer of police dogs,, the trainer also has to train the handlers as well as the dogs,,it take a long time ,,but its a very rewarding and satisfying job,,

My husband is currently trying to get my dog Cain to be a disaster relief dog, there are a lot of groups on yahoo that you can talk to about becoming a police dog trainer. Im sure you can go to your local police department and ask them the information! Any police department that doesn't have one, would love to have have you and your dog! Good luck!

Do you have previous experience of working with dogs? If so I'd contact the police directly and they should give a more detailed answer.
Good Luck honey.

Contact the local agencies that use dogs, for starters. I know many of them use contracted trainers for this purpose, but every agency is different. They can give you better information than the Yahoo Answers guessers can!!

just head for the nearest police post with a k9 unit. ask and they'll tell. note that u do need dog handling experience. if u don't have that experience u need to ask them whether they give training, and if not, what counts as qualified so you can get yourself qualified.
