My 3 year old son has just thrown a plastic cup at my plasma tv and it has cracked like a smashed window where he threw it.
I dont think i can claim on my house insurance as i only claimed for the same thing about 6 months ago.
Advice on what to do the screen is only 1 1/2 years old and cost over £1400.
Does anyone know anywhere in the uk that fixes them
the screen is still working, but my other screen worked for a bit when it had a crack and then the screen under the crack stopped working HELP other half is going to go mad
think my insurance only lets me claim on the same thing once a year and i only claimed 6 months ago due to the same thing ( and the same child did that one aswell )

Probably not the answer you wanted. Wait until he's older to have a plasma screen in your home. It's likely going to happen again. But anyone with kids has had to "KID PROOF" the house before. By age 6 the TV should be safe! LOL

Basically... you're in trouble. Once a plasma had been damaged there's usually no effective way to repair it. In this case an extended warranty wouldn't have helped, as they don't normally cover accidental damage. My advice is to buy a cheap LCD as a temporary replacement, and when the six months until you can claim for another broken plasma are up, pretend it only just happened. And if your son throws cups around, why on earth did you let him have a cup in front of the television?

At least give the insurance company a try. They may help even if they impose an excess. For the cost of a phone call you have little to loose. It might be worth mentioning the telly as a special risk item for next time. They'll put your premium up but the peace of mind if you have an active kiddie amy be worth it.
Did you buy it on a credit card? Most cc companies offer an accidental damage guarantee. It may be time-limited though so you may be out of time. As above, give them a call. If you don't ask you'll never know.
As a last resort, you will have to replace it yourself. Consider if it might be better to buy a cheaper telly for the next few years. Do you really need a £1400 monster? (sorry mr sports fan).
Whatever you do, don't touch the shop "extended warantee". They're expensive and always crap when you have to make a claim.

You're insurance should still cover it ( tho they might not be too pleased about it) If you think about it if you had a bump in your new car & claimed for the repairs on the insurance & then 6 months later you had another bump in the same car you would claim again & household insurance isnt worked out the same as car insurance so the next renewal premium shouldn't really reflect the fact that you have made 2 claims...... thats what its there for, as long as you dont abuse the system & perhaps the insurance might consider it negligent on your part, but kids of that age dont realise the implications of throwing toys about

I hear the plasma starts to harden after 5 years and a new TV would be needed anyway. But get a temp. tv wait the 6 months and claim it again.

Try claiming again off your insurance, what have you got to loose, either way your t v buggered and sooner or later its going to stop working. If you son wants to watch television in future ,make sure he's wearing a straight jacket or put a steel plate in front of the screen when he's around !!!

My husband works on TV's all day long and I asked him what you should do and he says you should either try to claim in on insurance again, or throw it away because the screen costs more to replace than the TV. They throw out TV's everyday because of this. Sorry! Hope this answers your question!

Try emailing the manufacturer - even if they can't repair it themselves they can provide you with a list of outlets that do the repairs. Wow - I have to say if my child had done that twice in 6 months I would be having SERIOUS words with him about his behaviour !!!!!

those type of tv's are a new technology that only the manufacturers know how to fix,but they dont fix them, instead they just replace them because it cost more to fix ,so replacing it is the only option.
