When a substance expands very rapidly in all 3d directions, releasing large energy, it is said to explode

Explosions happen when something solid or liquid is suddently transformed into gas. If you take something like gasoline(petrol) or some other flammable liquid and burn it very rapidly, then the gasoline (petrol) transorms from liquid to gas. The volume (amount of space) that 10 kg of carbon dioxide and water vapor from the burned petrol takes up is many, many times greater than the volume of 10 kg of liquid petrol/gasoline. The gases have a tremendous pressure so they burst open whatever surrounds them and explode into the surrounding air. In a car engine there is just a tiny amount of gasoline being exploded and it needs that huge steel construction that we call the engine just to contain it. The push from the exploding petrol is enough to move the whole car along the highway at high speed.

Solid explosives work the same way - a very small volume of solid chemical is converted to gas in a tiny fraction of a second. The power of the expanding gas is huge, so it smashes apart whatever is around it.

Conventional explosions, like TNT, are extremely rapid reactions that produce enormous amounts of gas. This is what provides the force of an explosion.

Nuclear explosions are a result of either fission or fusion reactions which create enormous energy in the form of heat, sound, and light.

An explosion is a sudden increase in volume and release of energy in a violent manner, usually with the generation of high temperatures and the release of gases. An explosion causes pressure waves in the local medium in which it occurs. Explosions are categorized as deflagrations if these waves are subsonic and detonations if they are supersonic (shock waves).

Water explosions? Did you leave the "e" out?
Or were you trying to ask "what are".
I don't understand why people use text message shorthand when there isn't a limit here for text.
Why not just spell out the words?
