i'd like it if the places were in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or the surrounding area.

Why not ask the school first. If you are close to a public university you might ask them. There are biological supply companies. But I doubt they would want to sell a few things. You might try hobby supply stores. Maybe a school supply store.

I would try in the following order: ask your teacher or another teacher in the biology dept. Secondly, go to LSU microbiology lab, tell them what you are doing, and beg for a couple (if a couple is all you need). Thirdly look in your yellow pages for a teacher supply store (must have loads in BR). Lastly online, e.g. www.carolina.com. One hint about home sterilization: you can bake glassware (not plastic!!) for 4-5 hours in the oven, or a rolling boil for 1 hour. That will kill most things. Good luck! PS. My award-winning science fair project many years ago was comparing the efficacy of various mouthwashes.
