I procrastinate because there are so many chores to do that I get confused as to what to begin and what to put off until later. Subsequently, nothing gets done. I usually tell myself that I can in fact put off until tommorrow what I didn't do today. And tommorow never comes.
Another reason I procrastinate is that I start a project and get disrupted, then I never seem to get back to wait I started.
So, uh wiat a minute I'll complete this answer in a few minu..
Was that the microwave or the coffee pot? Gotta runnnnnnnnnn, I'll get back to ya a little lat.....

I think that a person procrastinates due to a fear of failing, and also there is a factor that some person's feel the pressure of meeting a deadline sharpens ones ability, there maybe a lack of self esteem issues that hinders one from starting a task. Plus there maybe some mental health issues involved like depression.

PROCASTINATION IS THE OTHER NAME FOR UNWILLINGNESS AND CONFUSION TO ACT UPON SOME ACTION TO BE CARRIED OUT!
When, you don’t have any clear-cut answer for why you have to finish the particular work in time, your physiology would never give you any urge to move faster!
SUPPOSE, YOU HAVE A DYING THIRST FOR WANT OF WATER! WOULD YOUR BE ANALYSING HOW MANY MILLI LITRE OF WATER YOU NEED, AND FROM WHICH MUG TO QUENCH YOUR THIRST AND FROM WHEN THE DAY ONWARDS TO START FOR AND ALL?
AND WILL YOU BE PROCASTINATING IN THOSE SUCH ANALYSIS?
Yes, if there is SUCH dying-need, you will never procrastinate!
When, your parents, teachers and authorities demand from you to complete some productive works, in a stipulated time, and your mind does not know the out come for it in return, your mind naturally postpone things to some other days or even years!!
UNLESS, THE MIND HAS NOT BEEN OFFERED FOR A CLEARER VISION AND ADVANTAGES THERE UPON,
IT WILL NEVER GIVE ENERGY TO RISE FROM YOUR BED AND COMPLETE THE TASKS!
AND MORE OVER, IF YOU ARE NOT DOING ANY ACTION FOR YOUR OWN HAPPINESS,
BUT, FROM THE COMPULSION OF OTHERS, YOUR MIND NATURALLY WILL NEVER CO-OPERATE TO END THE TASK SOONER!
THUS, YOU WOULD BE DRAGGING ON AND ON HALF-HEARTEDLY WITH NO ENTHUSIASM IN IT!

I want to be perfect and praised for everything I do, being wrong adds to my insecurities.
Procrastinating may also be a way of rebelling against authority, being told what to do and when to do it.
Sometimes a problem is too much for me to handle so I just push it aside as if it didnt exist.
Procrastinating has set me back but it has also worked in my favor by allowing time to produce clearer solutions or by the problem magically settling itself.
It's gambling, with its addiction to risk and excitement.

We just don't want to "deal" with anything. Life is so overwhelming at times, you know? Procrastinators are simply seeking an extended "time-out". It's not productive, but it's true.

I have found that most of my procrastination is based out of a fear of failure. I don't want to build up this idea of myself, just to see it become a complete and utter disgrace. I know that probably sounds weird, but it starts with the big things, then just avalaches into the little things.

It is due to experience. When one is young, he/she is full of "lets go, lets do it" , full of energy and willingness to try anything, work very hard etc.
This is the gungho energy of the rookie.
As you learn the job, you can do it faster, you can "smell" the problems, and "eyeball" a situation, being able to predict outcomes just by the chemistry of the people working , their capacities and the actual problems around them.
You are now using the wise energy of the senior staff.
So procastination in the young-- bad. Their minds are empty, and could remain empty
In the older person- this is the duck who is calm above water, watch him/her paddling frantically underneath.

i procrastinate because i assign an estimated "time needed to finish", and then i find something better to do until the time before it has to be done is the same as the amount it takes to do that thing

Typically I procrastinate when I perceive the task at hand as being problem-filled, or tougher than it usually is.
