The sad thing is most of the blacks that answered this question, did so very ignorantly, yet have the nerve to try to use th N word and talk in slang. Anyway, MLK, JR. was killed b/c honestly the whites saw that the blacks actually had a chance to get ahead, to have some form of say so it what went on in their lives, and they did not agree with it, so they dealt with it the best they could. It was not a set up him staying in the broken down hotel. How many blacks back in the day could walk in to an elegant hotel much less through the front door. He was arrested but they couldn't keep him locked up forever so what other way could they get rid of him. Either way MLK, Jr. death was a tragedy based on what all he has done for society, and it's sad that things are headed right back to what he tried to get us all away from.

As others have already said, Martyrdom sometimes speaks louder than words. The Civil Rights process was not making very much progress. For some reason our society needs the "Hero," before it listens to reason. I am not saying he planned his death, but think someone in his organization did.

He was killed because some people thought he would "rock the boat" back then white people had all the power. The front seats on the bus,the better schools, you know and they didn't want to give it up.If MLK sucsseded then it would all come crashing down on them. One time, there was an attempt to kill MLK by bombing his house. They didn't succssed then so they tried again and actually killed him.

The reason why Martin Luther was killed was because people hated the TRUTH. That was also the reason why the Jews killed Jesus Christ.

You see, just like Christ, he came up to defend his people from racism, and recommend unity among people of different colours, people could not comprehend this, they could not condon it, and they killed for it - that is the simple truth.
